Squad Of 20 Chosen

Twenty players have been chosen for the Canterbury Plunket Shield training squad, and more may be added if performances warrant it in the next week or two. Most of the names are familiar, but there are four players in the group who have not yet played Plunket Shield cricket. They are the Riccarton all-rounder, C. L. Broad, the young West-University leftarm spin bowler. C. M. Kirk, the Old Boys batsman. C. J. Stevens, and B. P. Isherwood. an accomplished batsman-wicket-keeper from Ashburton. Among the notable omissions are J. W. Kiddey. who has retired from representative cricket, and I. R. Hartland, a

C. Irving, B. P. Isherwood, C. M. Kirk,, R. C. Motz, J. M. Mclntyre, M. L. Ryan, C. J. Stevens, B. R. Taylor, K. Thomson, and J. T. Ward. In addition, three bowlers with Brabin and Rothmans tournament prospects—A. R. Hounsell, D. R. Hadlee, and D. G. Trist—will attend the representative practices, which begin at Lancaster Park this evening. The squad will practice four nights a week, and its first match commitment will be the game against Motueka at Hagley Park on December 4 and 5.
