Secrets Act Charge
(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright) OTTAWA November 20. A Government lithographer has been arrested on charges of obtaining and retaining naval charts that might be useful to the Soviet Union. He is Bower Edward Featherstone, aged 27, the father of four children. The charges, under the Official Secrets Act, said the charts were prepared for the Royal Canadian Navy and “might be directly or indirectly useful to a foreign power, namely the U.S.S.R.” The charts were retained "for purposes prejudicial to the safety of the stats . . . when he had no right to retain such documents.”
