Versailles And Strauss Dominate Betting
(Special Crspdi. N.Z.P.A.) SYDNEY. Versailles and Strauss, two of Sydneys most erratic stayers, dominate betting on the November Handicap (one mile and a half) at Warwick Farm today. Bookmakers expect Versailles to have the edge on the topweight, Strauss, at the post. Neither horse has lived up to the promise shown early in his career and their form has been hard to follow. Versailles has raced 39 times for only five wins, and Strauss 47 times for five wins. Also in today’s field are Plenty, Prince Udea, Piper’s Son, Aspiration, and Olympus. The New Zealand-bred Breakaway is joint favourite with the top-weight, Gloves Off, in the Caw’dor Eucourage Handicap (one mile). Two other New Zea-land-bred starters, Te Aroha
Prince and Royal Marine, are also well fancied. Kurrajong Park, which won last time out, is a clear favourite for the Junior Handicap from Sandy Court, also a last-start winner.
