KEEN ON TROTTING
Former Test Wicketkeeper “The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. One of the earliest arrivals at Alexandra Park tonight is sure to be A. T. W. Grout, the former Australian test wicketkeeper. Grout is a “terrific trotting enthusiast” Almost the first thing he wanted to know when he arrived in Auckland last Monday was when the next meeting would be held. He has a special interest in meetings held at night because after many years of negotiations, night trotting will be introduced in his home city, Brisbane, early next year. Grout was appointed a member of the Queensland Trotting Board of Control recently. “We are confident night trotting will be equally as successful in Brisbane as in other parts of Australia,” he said. “Albion Park, where the first meetings will be held, has a six furlong track and the facilities probably are better than at Harold Park in Sydney.”
