FOUNTAIN SCULPTURE by Robert Cronbach in the Federal Building Lobby, St. Louis, Missouri. Hammered and welded sheet bronze is used and replaces the traditional bronze casting methods. The forms appear to be floating pieces which use the water flowing off each section to create other planes. Water and metal are “wedded” to enhance the qualities of each. The result is a visual effect which is strong, functional, and decorative. The picture is from “Direct Metal Sculpture,” a book reviewed on this page.
