VACANCIES—GENERAL SCIENCE STUDY AWARDS IN PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY: DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE VACANCY NO. 66 A NUMBER OF Science Study Awards for students majoring in chemistry or physics will be made by the Commission in 1967. These awards will provide excellent opportunities for students to attend university full time to complete a science degree. Awards are open to students who are about to enter the third year at University but those at any stage would be considered. Consideration will also be given to school leavers with at least University Entrance who are about to take up a University course in science majoring in chemistry or physics. Awards are continued annually until the degree is completed provided satisfactory progress is maintained. Students will be employed in the Patent Office during the long vacation, and on graduation will work for the Department of Justice. Bursars will be bonded in the Public Service for the number of years that assistance has been granted. Allowances: A standard allowance of £l5O for each academic year is payable with any university bursaries or supplementary bursaries and with junior or national scholarships Nine-tenths* of the composite university fee will be paid on behalf of the bursar. The remaining one-tenth and the students’ association fee are payable by the bursar. Boarding allowances where applicable for fees and allowances bursaries will be paid by the Department of Education. A bursar who is not eligible for a boarding allowance from the Department of Education may, if living away'from home, be paid a boarding allowance of £lOO each academic year. A married student will be paid an allowance of £175 a year in addition to other allowances, but this allowance will be reduced by the amount of any boarding allowance received.
