Force Urged
(N. Z.P. A.-Reuter —Copyright) NEW YORK, Nov. 18. The General Assembly today endorsed by 89 votes to two an Afro-Asian resolution asking Britain to end the Rhodesian rebellion by force. Only the Security Council, however, has the powers necessary to give effect to such a resolution: and most of the Western countries unwilling to resort to force at this stage—were among the 17 Assembly members who abstained from the vote today. The Western Powers had refused to back the AfroAsian document when it was approved a week ago by the Assembly’s Trusteeship Committee.
