UNIVERSITY VACANCIES THE UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA APPLICATIONS are invited for appointment to positions of: SENIOR LECTURER and LECTURER in ENGLISH LITERATURE on the staff of the Department of English. The salary range for a Senior Lectureship is $A6500-$7600 p.a., and for a Lectureship 5A4800$6340 p.a. Superannuation will be similar to F.S.S.U. in both cases. The Department offers courses in English Literature from Chaucer onwards at the pass and honours levels, and postgraduate training for the M.A. degree. F S.S.U. type superannuation is available. Accommodation will be provided at reasonable rental. The appointee will be expected to develop an elementary course in Earth Science to students in the Preliminary Year. It is envisaged that the course should begin with outline of earth history and include some more or less biogeographical material dealing with the flora and fauna of New Guinea. The Preliminary Year is a pre-university year following a four year secondary education in the Territory, and may lead to matriculation.

The lecturer appointed will be a member of the Schoo] of Sciences which includes Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Two experienced earth chemists are available in the School.
