BETTING RISES
Off-course betting was a record for a show day at Addington Raceway yesterday. On-course figures also showed an increase over last year in spite of the sharp drop in betting on the New Zealand Free-for-all. Off-course betting amounted to £156,178, including £74,521 10s on the double, compared with £152,685 15s last year, which was the previous best for the meeting. On-course betting yesterday amounted to £203,555 10s, including £30,740 10s on the two doubles, compared with £196,485 last year. The meeting was held in fine weather before a crowd of 20,507, compared with 19,491 last year. The track was fast.
