Decisions By Authority

An application by Smallbone Brothers, Ltd, for a licence to retail motor spirits from two pumps to be installed at a proposed service station and garage premises in Rakaia Gorge road, Methven, was granted at a sitting of the Motor Spirits Licensing Authority in Christchurch on Wednesday. A further application for sales other than through pumps was refused. The licence will run from December 2.

Mr D. J. Clark appeared for the applicant The Authority comprises Messrs J. W. Bain, F. S. Taylor, and G. Laurence. Mr R. Mr J. R. Woodward appeared for the applicant. An application by Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd, to take over from Sid. Osborne and Sons, Ltd, a licence for two pumps at a service station and garage premises in Tancred street west, Ashburton, was granted, with authority to move the two pumps a distance of about 32ft. Mr H. W. Hunter appeared for the applicant. The Authority granted a limited licence to Auto Service Centre, Ltd, which applied for a licence to retail motor spirits from two pumps to be installed at a service station and garage premises at the corner of Pages and Woodham roads, Christchurch. The licence, which will run from December 1, will limit petrol sales to the garage’s business hours only. Mr H. W. Hunter appeared for the applicant
