Rev. Mother Gallagher
The Rev. Mother Patricia Gallagher, Mother Superior of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary, Idris road, died recently in Christchurch. She was 66. She came to New Zealand from Ireland with five Irish nuns of the congregation in 1961. She was a teacher at St. Patrick’s Parish School, Bryndwr. Mother Gallagher was one of the first Irish nuns to graduate from Galway University, where she gained a B.A. and a higher diploma in education. She was a permanent consultor of her congregation. She is survived by a sister, a nun in the same congregation in London, a brother in Ireland, and two brothers and a sister in the United States.
