AUST. TOUR

A New Zealand team will tour Australia in November - December, 1967, the chairman, Mr J. G. Leggat, told the national council meeting yesterday.

He said the Australian board had indicated its willingness to accept the tour. There would be four matches against State sides— New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, and Queensland. “It is a most important opportunity for us,” he said. “It will be to the cricketers’ benefit.

“It is not at the end of their season nor at the end of a long tour by a New Zealand team.

"The climate, the pitches, the atmosphere and the approach of the players should all help the tour." Mr Leggat said the board was alive to the fact that regeneration of New Zealand cricket must extend to lower levels. There was a possibility of a colts team playing in a tri-

angular tournament in Australia and of a team comprising 15 to 16-year-olds attending the Sydney Cricket Ground for coaching and a match.
