(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. For the fourth time this season R. D. Tait, the discus bronze medallist at the Commonwealth Games in Jamaica, extended his Otago shot put record when he reached 54ft lliin on Saturday. Before this season Tait’s record was 51ft lOJin and his personal best was 53ft 9in, achieved when he gained sixth place at Jamaica. He has progressively lifted the record to 52ft Ijin, 53ft 4jin, 54ft BJin and 54ft lljin. On Saturday, all of his six attempts were over 50ft. the second best being 54ft 4jin.
