Two Charged After Deaths

(New Zealand Press Association/ WELLINGTON, November 6. A 28-year-old workman will appear on a murder charge and an elderly man on a manslaughter charge in separate cases in the Magistrate’s Court in Wellington tomorrow.

Police said that the workman had been charged with the murder of Michael Evans, aged 50, in the White Lodge private hotel. Evans’s body was found in a room on the first floor by another resident at 11 p.m. He had extensive head injuries. The man being held by police also lived at the hotel. He gave himself up about midnight on Saturday. The elderly man is charged with the manslaughter at Lower Hutt of Mrs Irene Francis Cole, aged 60, of Lower Hutt. Mrs Cole was found dead

in her bed with head Injuries about 7 a.m. yesterday. It is believed she was injured on Thursday night.
