U.K. POLICE RECRUITED
30 Coming To N.Z. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 3. Thirty British policemen have been recruited to the New Zealand Police Force. The Minister of Police (Mr Allen) said today that the Government was concerned that the present police establishment was not up to strength. Experienced policemen from Britain would help to remedy this. He described the 30 recruits as “a trial batch.” Mr Allen, questioned about the National Party’s policy statement that it would take "further effective measures to see that the number of police was increased,” said this did not mean increasing the present establishment figure of one policeman to every 950 of population.
