Ocean Race To Hobart (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY. Six New Zealand yachts will be among 49 to race in the 640-mile Sydney to Hobart ocean race, which starts on Boxing Day. Two American boats are among the entries received by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. The Californian entry, Nam Eang, a 66ft cutter, will be the largest yacht in the fleet, while the 29ft sloop, Zilvergeest, of Sydney, is the smallest.

The other American entry Is the 31ft Californian sloop, Waitere, which at present is in New Zealand. The Americas Cup trials have kept several good boats out of this year’s race. They Include the winner of the last three Sydney to Hobart races, Freya and Mercedes HI.
