Births, Deaths Increase
Births and deaths so far this year in the Christchurch district are above those for the same period last year, according to statistics released
There were 499 births in October, bringing the total for the year to 4688. In October last year there were 486 (4485). A similar increase in deaths was recorded. Last month there were 228 deaths (220), and the total for this year is now 2366 (2174). During the month 331 marriage notices were issued and there were 33 registry office marriages. Last year in the same month there were 225 marriage notices issued and 42 registry office marriages. The total notices issued this year are now 2098 and 378 registry office marriages have been performed. Last year the figures were 1904 and 336 respectively.
