Breezes Road School

The first school committee of the new Breezes road Intermediate School, to be opened for the first term in 1967, was I elected at a meeting of householders on Monday evening. There were 120 persons present.

Eventually capable of taking 510 children, the school will be opened to 230 Form I pupils next February. Its contributing schools will be Aranui, Avondale, Wainoni, and part of Burwood which will be decapitated at the end of this year. ' Construction was begun in [July, 1965, on the eight-acre site and the school will contain 12 ordinary class-rooms, a library, an assembly hall, and five specialist rooms for art and craft, science, needlework, homecraft and woodwork. The first headmaster will be Mr R. S. Jenkins, the present headmaster of the Linwood Avenue primary school.

The committee was elected as follows: Chairman, Mr R. Bodger; secretary, Mr C. M. Knight; treasurer, Mrs B. Barter; committee, Mesdames J. Parr, C. Simpson, Messrs W. Hobbs, D. McKenzie, D. Brown, R. Larson.
