Sped Through Amber Light
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 1. “Every day you see people accelerating through amber lights,” said Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M., today when fining a 17-year-old nurse, Beverley Jessie Woodroffe, £lO for careless driving. She was said to have gone through an amber light in her first drive in city traffic and collided with a petrol tanker. The Magistrate said a concession in the past allowed people to pass through an amber light if they could not stop. Like many other concessions, this had been abused. He suggested the drawing of a line at traffic lights and if traffic had not passed over the line it must halt on the amber light.
