£27m Rise In Farm Income
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 1. Gross farming income rose an estimated £27 million in the 196566 season, the Government Statistician (Mr J, V. T. Baker) announced today. The estimated value of “al farm produce” increased t< £423.4 million this season compared with the final 1964 65 figure of £396.1 million. Thii season’s figure is nearly £4l million more than the £381.1 million tally for 1963-64. In the latest year, th<
groups grain, horticulture, wool, mutton and lamb, beef and dairying, are estimated to have risen collectively by £28.3 million. A £1 million fall is shown in 1965-66 season returns in the pig group. The wool group return rose £10.2 million. Wool group returns are estimated at £96.6 million in the latest season, compared with £86.4 million in the previous season. I In the dairying group, an i estimated £2l million rise in , the quantity of butterfat pro- - cessed during the season, plus ; higher prices paid farmers ! and a large increase in dairy i cattle stock, is estimated to have contributed an additional > £9 million to the gross total.
