HOCKEY TOUR
Protest By Auckland “The Press” Special Service The Auckland Hockey Association will write to the national association protesting at the treatment of a letter that Auckland sent to the parent body regarding the proposed New Zealand participation in a world hockey tournament in India in January. In the letter to the national association in Christchurch, Auckland had said that they were against a New Zealand team going to India because of health hazards and the unfavourable climatic conditions.
They felt that a world tour would be more beneficial to a national team and could help increase its world standing.
The national association circulated the Auckland opinion to associations throughout the country before answering Auckland by letter. Members of the Auckland hockey executive were annoyed when told of this at their meeting recently. They decided that, in addition to protesting to the New Zealand association, they would send the full text of the letter to the associations.
