CARDIFF. The Wallabies arc the first international Rugby team to tour the British Isles since the war that have not received issues of free cigarettes. A cigarette company has offered free cigarettes throughout the tour but has been refused permission to do so by the four Home Unions’ tours committee. The Home Unions say that it is not allowed
under their laws. But they did not instruct the Lions manager, Mr D. J. O’Brien, to refuse gifts on the recent tour of Australia and New Zealand.
The Lions received 200 cigarettes a week while they were away.
The Wallabies, most of whom are travelling without any form of pay, receive 10s a day out of pocket expenses. Cigarettes cost 5s 5d a packet in Britain.
