Radio Statement Expected Today

(New Zealand Preet Association) AUCKLAND, November 1. A statement on the future of private radio stations, and Radio Hauraki in particular, is expected tomorrow from the Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Scott) or the Broadcasting Corporation.

The directors of Radio Hau raki, who will appear in th< Auckland Magistrate’s Court tomorrow to face charges, hav< announced that they will re new their efforts to get or the air—if necessary by mak ing another attempt to get tc sea and outside the three mile limit. Mr D. J. Gapes, managing director of Radio Hauraki said today that immediately the Court hearing was com pleted a further approach would be made to the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and the Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Scott) asking for an in terim licence to commence broadcasting.

Saunders, managing i director of Radio Internati ional, said today that he ex--1 pected to receive a broad- ; casting licence of some sort . in the very near future. “I have never had any real doubt that we would get something,” he said, “but it is coming much quicker now than I had expected.” Mr Saunders said he was expecting “an important interview” tomorrow after which he hoped to have authority to go on the air.
