Japanese Judo Champion (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The world open-weight judo champion, Inokuma, of Japan, may make a short tour of New Zealand in December. A New Zealand judo ccouncillor, Mr R. Lonergan, said last night that contact had been made with Mr D. Draeger, an American who would tour with Inokuma if the negotiations proved successful. “Draeger arrived in Melbourne last week,” said Mr Lonergan, “to arrange a tour of Australia by Inokuma.” If Inokuma toured New Zealand, he would arrive on December 10 and would stay for about 10 to 14 days. Inokuma, who won a gold medal at the Tokyo Oympics. won the open-weight world title in Brazil last year.
