Mass For Poles
f.V.Z. Press Association* WELLINGTON, October 20. New Zealanders of Polish j origin will attend Solemn 'High Mass in Wellington next Monday to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of Poland’s adoption of Christianity in 966. Among the organisers and principal participants are many young people who came to New Zealand in 1944. In the history of New Zealand, the arrival that year of 1700 children, ranging in age from five to 15, was unique in that it was by far the largest group of child settlers. Homeless and without parents, these children soon recovered health in this country and the majority settled in Wellington.
