Four Killed Near Israeli Border

(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) JERUSALEM, October 20. Israeli security forces clashed with Arab infiltrators yesterday in a gun battle that killed four persons and wounded another, military officials announced.

The incident was the latest in a series that has aroused fears of a war in the Middle East. It occurred 1500 yards south-west of Ramot Naftali, in northern Israel.

Military officials said that footprints of the infiltrators indicated they came from Lebanon. This was the first report during the current crisis of infiltrators coming from Lebanon. There have been several clashes within the last two weeks near the Syrian border, and one near the Jordanian frontier. The announcement said the infiltrators were members of the Al-Fatah terrorist organisation which has pledged to reclaim disputed Israeli territory.

An Israeli patrol encountered four armed Arabs. Three Arabs and one Israeli were killed. The fourth Arab was wounded and captured.

Teams of United Nations military observers yesterday inspected both sides of the Syrian-Israeli border to establish if troops or weapons were concentrated in areas contrary to the terms of the armistice agreement. In New York, the United Nations Security Council called a meeting for Thurs-

day afternoon to debate the findings of the observers.
