FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression east of Tasmania is moving south-eastwards. Forecast: Canterbury and the Kaikoura coast.—Fresh north-easterlies about the coast, but northwesterlies deepening inland; becoming cloudy with rain in the Alps; warm inland, but moderate temperatures near the coast. Outlook: a few showers. Nelson, Central Marlborough and the Sounds. —Northerly winds, strong about Cook Strait, but elsewhere moderate; cloudy with some rain in the west in the evening; temperatures moderate. Outlook: showers. Buller and Westland.—Moderate northeasterlies; rain in the south spreading northwards during the day; moderate temperatures. Outlook: showers. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
