LAST STEAM ENGINE
Journey To Kaikoura
Locomotive enthusiasts will take a sentimental journey at the week-end. The last steam engine excursion to Kaikoura will begin at 8.15 a.m. on Sunday from Christchurch and return from Kaikoura at 5.15 p.m., hauled by an AB class engine. Other steam locomotive excursions will take place at the week-end in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Railway and Locomotive Society.
On Saturday at 1.35 p.m., a C class engine will take enthusiasts to Ferrymead, Lyttelton, back to Christchurch, then out tb Lincoln on the abandoned Southbridge line and back to Christchurch. A KB class engine will travel to Timaru on Monday, leaving Christchurch at 8.15 a.m. and returning at 4.30 p.m. Mr G. S. Troup, of the Canterbury branch, extended an invitation to all train enthusiasts to take part in the excursions.
