APPROACH TO P.M.
Modification Of Classrooms (fi.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 18. The Wellington Education Board will seek the Prime Minister’s approval for modifying emergency exists to all prefabricated classrooms built before 1958. The board decided this today after receiving advice from the Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) declining to reverse existing policy. Mr Kinsella informed the board that on the advice of the fire protection officers of the Ministry of Works, he did not think the change was warranted. The chairman of the board’s works committee (Mr A. G. Goldsmith) accused Mr Kinsella of not giving the matter the consideration is deserved and proposed that the board approach the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake).
The board will also approach the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk).
