Wants Gaol Term
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct 19. A 35-year-eld man out of work because of a recent heart attack, and with a wife and two children to support broke a window in Lower Hutt last night so he would be sent to prison as he felt his wife would be better off financially without him, Mr J. F. Keane, S.M., was told today.
“My wife gets £lO 5s a week if I'm In the nick, and does not have to support me. While she Is on Social Security benefit she gets only £lO 10s a week and does have to support me. so she’s better off with me in the nick,” Leslie Hugh Bowes told the Magistrate. Bowles was convicted and remanded till Friday for sentence. He pleaded guilty.
