(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. The Commonwealth Games marathon bronze medallist, M. R. Ryan (Tokoroa), aims to clock New Zealand’s fastestever time for the distance when he competes in the Watties marathon at Hamilton on Saturday. The Canterbury athlete, D. C. McKenzie, is current holder of the country’s fastest time, when he recorded 2hr 16min 59sec in the New Zealand Championship seven months ago. The 24-year-old Ryan hopes to clock “around the 2hr 15min mark.” His best time to date is the 2hr 19min.
