SERGEANT ATTACKED
Two Intruders Disturbed

DANNEVIRKE, Oct. 11.
Sergeant R. J. Bryant of the Waipukurau police was attacked with a screwdriver about 2 a.m. today when he disturbed two intruders in a Waipukurau wine and spirits store.
He cornered one man who attacked him with a small screwdriver and made off. Sergeant Bryant was attended by a doctor and received six stitches in the forehead.
A car loaded with what is presumed to be goods stolen from three other premises that were broken into in Waipukurau last night was found near the wine and spirits store. Both men have been identified and a search is being made in the district.
