Ellerslie Track Will Suit Gold Chick Today

“The Press’’ Special Service AUCKLAND. Unless sudden improvement is forthcoming from the others, Gold Chick, Corbassiere, Damian's Pride and Town Guard will dispute the finish of the Dominion Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at Ellerslie today, Gold Chick, in particular, looks a bright prospect.

This is the time of the year when Gold Chick excels. These days he seems not to relish very firm ground. The easy tracks of the spring are to his liking. When he dead-heated with Geyser Land in the Mitchelson Cup on Saturday, Gold Chick produced his best performance for the year. He has 61b more, making 8-7, in the Dominion Handicap. Against that. Geyser Land is not an acceptor this time. Neither will Gold Chick meet Blue Lodge, Roganne and Creolian. which finished third, fourth and fifth in Saturday’s cup. In the second leg, the Kennels Handicap, Master Defence will be the hardest to beat. Gold Imp. Special Request and Alkaid are other prospects. Week-end rain kept the footing soft and with further showers probable, the track seems unlikely to firm. Selections.—
