BOY’S LUCKY ESCAPE
Runaway Car In Bedroom (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 10. A nine-year-old Panmure boy, Karl Fyn, was woken about 7 a.m. today when a car careered down a 35-yard slope in Church crescent, crashed into his bedroom, breaking his bed and pushing him across the far side of the room. The boy, who was half asleep, escaped injury, but the bumper of the car was only inches from his head. The remains of the brick wall was scattered all over the room. “I shut my eyes and threw my hands over my head,” he said later. His parents rushed into the room startled at the noise. The brakes on a small car parked on the street had failed and it ran across the road, hit the kerb, and jumped down the steep bank.
