Fourth Defeat In Basketball

(N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. The New Zealand men’s basketball team went down to Queensland, 67-75, in the final game of the Australian interstate carnival at Melbourne on Friday. New Zealand lacked determination on attack and once again its shooting failed. New Zealand held the lead two or three times during the game but with seven minutes to go Queensland took over and dictated the run of play to the extent that New Zealand was unable to overtake the lead. For New Zealand, B. Bowden scored 18 points and D. Taylor 14. Taylor played a fine game but was not supported by the remainder of the team. New Zealand ended the carnival with two wins and four losses.
