SAIGON ATTACK
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SAIGON, Oct. 10. Viet Cong troops launched a major attack against a Vietnamese civilian motor pool on the outskirts of Saigon this morning. The attack came a few hours before the arrival of the United States Secretary of Defence, Mr Robert McNamara, for talks on the United States war effort The attack, spearheaded by rocket fire followed by Viet Cong carrying satchel charges, destroyed a guard post, other bui’dings and some vehicles Four Viet Cone and one Vietnamese civilian were killed and a Vietnamese policeman and three civilians wounded.
