Mission In China
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Sept. 28.
The chairman of the Apple and Pear Board, Mr K. B. Longmore, and the general manager, Mr D. L. Waller, will visit China on a selling mission next month.
The mission will be the first by a New Zealand producer board to China.
Messrs Longmore and Waller have been invited to attend the Chinese Export Commodities Fair in Canton, which begins on October 15. They will have talks in Canton with officials of the National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Import and Export Corporation, which would be the purchasing agent should New Zealand be successful in selling fruit to China. The board has sought the opportunity to have these discussions, as a preliminary to regular sales of apples and pears.
Earlier this year Mr Longmore visited Hong Kong as a guest of Air New Zealand’s inaugural flight there. The present invitation is a direct result of that trip.
