LEMANS (France).

D. Hulme, of New Zealand, in a Brabham-Honda won the Le Mans formula two motor race at Le Mans on Sunday—his second win in the Grand Prix de France series.

Another two New Zealanders, Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren, finished secand and third in the Bridgehampton Grand Prix in New York to share the lead in the Canadian-Ameri-can series.

Huhne’s win continued the string of successes by Jack Brabham’s Honda - powered cars in formula two racing this year. Brabham, this season’s world champion,. was forced out early in Sunday’s race. Hulme drove a brilliant race to shake off the dogged attacks of J. P. Beltoise, who was second in a Matra-Cos-worth. His winning margin was 52 seconds.

Between them, Hulme and Brabham have now won all five Grand Prix de France formula two races so far this year. Brabham has won three. The race was held on the Le Mans 24-hour circuit. After Brabham dropped out on the sixth lap after spinning on a tricky S-bend, there was a tough fight between Hulme, Beltoise and J. Clark in a Lotus-Cos worth. Hulme showed he had the edge in speed over Beltoise and Clark had some mechan-

ical trouble, which caused him to lose ground. Late Challenge In the Bridgehampton Grand Prix, Amon, in a McLarenChevrolet, just failed in a late challenge to beat D. Gurney in a Lola-Ford. McLaren, in another McLaren-Chevrolet, was third. The race was the second in the six-race CanadianAmerican series. McLaren and Amon each have 10 points, while Gurney and Surtees each have nine points. Starting from the pole position when J. Hill was unable to repair his Chaparral in time, Gurney led all the way, but his margin at the finish was only about 20 feet as Amon made a great closing challenge.

Gurney actually was challenged only twice. The first time was on the 45th lap when Hill moved up only to develop engine trouble. On the 60th lap, Amon started closing it.
