Anne Lane Scores In First Leg At Thames

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The Te Aroha mare Anne Lane scored a narrow win in the Coakley Memorial, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Thames Jockey Club’s spring meeting at Thames on Saturday. Anne Lane beat Mac’s Pride by a neck. The topweight Regal Ruler was third followed by El Cid, Captain Lancaster, Crojack, Queenwood, Blue Bay and Vai Vua. The second leg of the T.A.B. double, the Stewards’ Handicap, went to the Cambridge gelding Larboard. The weather was overcast and cold and the track heavy.
