Condition Improving

Armand L. Spitz, the American scientist who was evacuated by air from Byrd Station, Antarctica, last week with acute appendicitis, was last night reported comfortable in the Christchurch Public Hospital. Mr Spitz is still being treated with antibiotics and his condition is improving steadily. He is expected to have an appendix operation within the next three months. It is not known whether this will be at Christchurch Hospital or in the United States.
