DUTIES: To control the hydrological section of the Waterworks Office under the direction of the Chief Engineer (Planning). Although hydrological data has been collected for some years, the hydrological section proper was established by a qualified hydrologist 2$ years ago. The hydrological network comprises over 100 rainfall stations, of which the majority are under the control of the Royal Observatory. The balance of the rainfall stations and all of the 20 stream-gauging stations are under Waterworks’ control. The duties of this post will be to maintain, modify and extend if necessary the existing hydrological network: to continue the collection and basic analysis of data obtained: to improve the estimates of catchment runoff, and to give advice on hydrological problems as they arise. QUALIFICATIONS: Age about 35 years: several years’ experience in field and office on hydrological work; A.M.I.C.E. or equivalent, preferably with some formal academic hydrological training. TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: (1) Appointment on contract for one tour of three years in first instance. (2) Salary Scale £1826 to £3322 p.a., according to qualifications and experience. (3) Gratuity at 15 per cent, 17 per cent and 20 per cent of salary for first, second and third (or subsequent) tours respectively. Y 4) Expatriation pay of £195 p.a. ! for a candidate appointed below £2377 p.a. on the j scale. . (5) Education allowance at £lBO to £250 p.a. for each child I (aged 11-18) at approved | boarding schools up to a maximum of three.
