Americans To Arrive
One hundred and sixty-four persons will disembark from an aircraft at Christchurch airport this evening. Ten members of the crew are included in this. The plane is a DCB of Capital Airlines, and is under charter to the United States Military Air Transport Service. Four flights will come into Christchurch bringing men of the United States Navy Antarctic Support Force between now and October 10. In previous seasons Boeing military transports were used to get the main body of men to Christchurch. Another American plane, a Navy Super Constellation, is due today.
