Army Denies Report
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) AN KHE (South Vietnam), September 16. The United States Army’s Ist Air Cavalry Division last night denied that its troops burned down two Vietnamese villages in spite of reports from reporters on the scene. “The fires that occurred were not started deliberately, but were apparently started by the heavy ordnance,” said Major John Phillips, information officer for the division. “These fires were fanned by the wind and spread through the villages."
