£30,000 Theft In Daylight

(N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 18. Four masked bandits ransacked a London jeweller’s and stole gems worth an estimated £30,000. The gang took the bracelets, brooches, rings and necklaces from the strongroom of Collingwood’s, of Mayfair, after tying up two watchmen. They made the raid in broad daylight just after 8 a.m.. though the shop is only 50 yards from the busy West End of London’s central police station. Diamonds, sapphires and rubies were reported taken from the strong room, which is known to contain a number of peer’s coronets.
