Call For Election In Sarawak

INZ.PA. Reuter— Copyright! KUCHING, September 18. The defiant Chief Minister of Sarawak, Dato Stephen Kalong Ningkan, announced today he had formally called for a General Election.

His request to the Governor, Tun Abang Haji Openg, to dissolve the Legislative Council was his response to moves by the Malaysian Federal Government to remove him from office.

The quarrel led to a state of emergency being declared in Sarawak last Thursday by the Malaysian Acting Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak. Tun Razak said then that the Federal Parliament would be convened on Monday to give the Sarawak Governor sweeping powers to oust Dato Ningkan. In his statement today, Dato Ninkgan said the Federal action would create bitterness among the people here for generations to come. He said the situation in the

country was calm and peaceful and allegations of a deteriorating situation were untrue.

Extradition Ordered.— A High Court judge has ordered the extradition to West Germany of Dr Horst Schumann, a physician who faces war crimes charges and who has been practising in Ghana for several years.— Accra, September 18.
