379 Deaths On Roads
At 4 p.m. yesterday 37€ traffic deaths this year had been reported tc the Transport Department. At this time last year the total was 410. The toll this month is 2( ompared with 19 at th ante time last Septembe:

Hit By Car A 64-year-old man died after he was struck by a car at Waiau Pa, near Pukekohe, early yesterday. He was Herbert John Taylor, retired, of Crisp road, Clarks Beach. Mr Taylor was hit when he ran out from between a delivery van and a milk tanker. Driver Crushed
A tanker driver was killed instantly when his articulated vehicle failed to negotiate a corner near Waitoa at 11.20 a.m. The dead man was Bruce Dunning Wallace, aged 21, single, of Waitoa.
He was making a righthand turn when the vehicle, which was laden with milk, rolled over. The tank moved forward, crushing the cab. Name Released
The Australian who was killed when a car hit a telegraph pole in Epsom on Thursday night was Eric Ashlee McKeand, aged 18, a store packer, of Ipswich, New South Wales.
Graham Mitti, one of the two youths who suffered shock, cuts and concussion in the accident, was treated and
discharged at Green Lane Hospital. Michael Toia, who was admitted, was in a satisfactory condition yesterday.
