Venereal Disease

Sir,' —Venereal disease exists and every attempt to stamp it out is laudable. This we must admit. But “King Rat” would like it all his way. 1 find myself agreeing with his thoughts on chastity, but fail to see the connexion with venereal disease. Venereal disease is spread by promiscuity, not by couples who have been previously chaste but become permissive in the later stages of courtship, which will usually become marriage. The simplest and most effective method of controlling venereal disease is simply for those infected to abstain from intercourse until they are cured. However, the kind of person who indulges in excessive sex is not usually particularly concerned for his, or her, partner (or partners). “King Rat” quotes Dr. Thomas. This is one man’s opinion. May 1 remind “King Rat” that Kinsey and Weatherhead both state that although those who have had pre-marital intercourse adjust more quickly to the marriage situation; those who have remained chaste until marriage ultimately reach greater heights of sexual satisfaction.—Yours, etc., MOUSIE.
