Kaikoura Moa Egg
Sir,—ln a short history of the Palmer family, who settled in Kaikoura over a hundred years ago, reference is made to the discovery of a moa egg by Mr Robert Palmer. Your article on September 10 does no‘t mention the name of the finder or how the egg came to be owned by Mr E. G. James, of Britain. The Palmers have always understood that it was in the Kensington Museum, England. A history of early Kaikoura commissioned by the Kaikoura County Council is now in the printer’s hands and in it a very brief account credits the late Mr Palmer with the discovery.—Yours, E. M. BROWN. Kaikoura, September 14, 1966.
