Spring may mean many things to the poet, but to the housewife it means only spring cleaning, so she is probably regarding this week’s spring-like weather with mixed feelings.
Aerosols and one-step polishes have lifted much of the drudgery’ from the housewife's annual chore.
Just now grocers are busily promoting polishes, cleansers, and everything needed for spring cleaning.
Window cleaners come in aerosols these days; spray it on, polish it off.
One-step polishes clean and shine at one application as well as giving a silicone finish.
Essence Prices. — Higher prices, have been announced by the distributors of Cathedral brand essences. One-ounce and twoounce bottles have been increased 3d to Is 9d and 2s 9d; four-ounce bottles are 5d dearer at As lid
Hair Cream. — A sales campaign has been launched by Brylcreem. Retailers are helping in the promotion, aimed at improving the brand image and giving better value for money.
Consumer prices for Bryicreem are 3s 3d Junior, 4s 4d large and 6s 6d giant.
Californian Figs.—New sea son's prices for Californian figs are higher. This continues the trend of recent years. Californian figs are dearer than other figs, but packing and quality is better These figs are becoming a popular line.
Christmas Packs.— Cigarettes are usually an acceptable Christ mas gift, but in recent years large supplies have not been available. One maker is looking ahead and taking orders for Christmas packs of 100 and 60 in gift sleeves.
Sugar Price (Special Crspdt. N.Z P .4 1 LONDON, September 15. Raw sugar has risen from last week's low level of £.14 15s a ton to £l5 a ton for the September-October shipment.
