FIRMER TREND IN BRISKER TRADING
Trading followed a firmer trend yesterday and turnovers were higher on a busier market. Rises by leaders just headed falls. McKendrick had 6d pared off Wednesday’s rise in sales at 7s.
New Zealand Breweries recovered 3d to 13s 3d and insurances were a little brighter with a 2d rise to 23s 5d by New Zealand and a gain of Id to 29s 9d by South British. Lanes rose 6d to 9s, J. Wattie 2d to 18s. 1.C.1.N.Z. 3d to 19s 6d and Wilson Cement 6d to 22s 9d. Wilson and Horton at 22s 6d and Woolworths at 10s 9d each rose 3d.
K.P.G. again eased Id to 6s 2d. while Baillie at 8s 6d, Charles Begg at 16s 6d, Firth at 23s 6d and K.P. Drug at 40s each fell 6d. General Foods lost 3d to 17s and Porter 9d to 21s 3d.
